It may have been Gertrude Stein who said, "A rose is a rose," as she sat around contemplating life with Ernest Hemingway and other greats, but it was William Shakespeare who gave her the idea by first saying, "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." This is what Penelope Dyan had in mind as she traveled through the small town of Stratford-upon-Avon, to see (not so much a place) as to get a feel of this place that inspired the life and times of William Shakespeare.
