Su obra más destacada es "Eleanor & Park" (2012), una novela juvenil que ha recibido elogios de la crítica.

Otra de sus obras notables es "Fangirl" (2013), publicada en español por Alfaguara en 2014. En 2015, Rowell publicó "Carry On" (conocida en español como "Moriré besando a Simón Snow"), una novela que amplía el universo de personajes presentados en "Fangirl".
