With the failure of multilateralism, regional integration started becoming the reality of world in the form of FTAs and TAs. In 1990s from 50, the number of RTAs notified to the GATT/WTO has increased to 511 as of 15 January 2012. Of these 319 were enforced implying that more and more countries are joining the FTA bandwagon. Sometimes in these FTAs economic motives are mixed with political strategies. The book tries to unfold the strategic motive of US FTAs in West Asia and their culmination into MEFTA. The book also analytically calculates the welfare gains to West Asian economies by signing FTAs using GTAP Model and MENA Trade Stimulation Model.
