Ai Yazawa, nacida en 1967 en Osaka, Japón, es una destacada mangaka reconocida por sus obras dirigidas al público femenino, especialmente en los géneros shōjo y josei. A los 17 años, comenzó su carrera publicando en la revista Ribon, y su formación en diseño de moda se refleja en sus historias, donde la moda y las relaciones interpersonales son temas centrales.

Entre sus obras más destacadas se encuentran "No soy un ángel" (1991-1995), "Historia de un vecindario" (1995-1998), "Paradise Kiss" (1999-2003) y "NANA" (2000-2009), todas en el género shōjo o josei.
