Through an ecological perspective, the book plays as an example of how people can be shaped by their environments from both home and institutional settings.In this book, Deziana shares the trauma she experienced in creative ways to turn her pain into power. Deziana also challenges her readers to utilize the writing activities to reflect on the thoughts, feelings, and emotions that arise from the poems in hopes to also encourage many to begin to reflect upon their own triggers. After each writing activity, readers can find breathing exercises to assist with emotion regulation coping skills and to become encourage many to become present in the moment after reflecting. With intention, for poems that may be triggering to some readers, she marks the title with an "*" to grant readers the opportunity to become self-aware of their current headspace. The book aims to help those who experienced trauma to begin their healing journeys.
