Jay Heinrichs es un reconocido autor y experto en retórica y persuasión. Antes de dedicarse a la escritura, trabajó durante 26 años como escritor, editor de revistas y ejecutivo en el sector editorial. Posteriormente, se enfocó en revivir el arte de la retórica, impartiendo charlas y conferencias en diversas empresas e instituciones, además de enseñar Retórica y Oratoria en el Middlebury College.

Entre sus obras más destacadas se encuentra "¡Gracias por discutir!" (2007), un manual que moderniza los principios de la retórica clásica. Otra obra notable es "Cómo discutir con un gato" (2018), donde utiliza la conducta felina para enseñar técnicas de argumentación y persuasión.
