The Tin Man is an academic murder mystery set in Chicago. It features husband and wife sleuths who work with an Asian computer scientist to solve the crime.. Cynthia Scott-Forest is a professor of English and her husband, Drew, is the Head of Technology at a prominent Chicago university. Drew's colleague, Iko Pelo, also assists the Chicago Police Department by using a computer program he designed that searches databases for patterns similar to the case under investigation. When Jack Sloan, a CPD homicide detective, identifies Drew as a suspect in the murder of the Head of the Comparative Literature Department, Cynthia does her own detecting to protect and clear her husband. The city of Chicago, its landmarks, sports teams, shops, and restaurants is a dynamic setting for this mystery which provides a wry look at academic life as well as a suspenseful detective story. After numerous twists and turns, Cynthia solves the mystery in a surprising and novel way.
