Sid Fleischman (1920-2010) fue un escritor estadounidense reconocido por su contribución a la literatura infantil y juvenil. A lo largo de su carrera, publicó numerosas obras de ficción cargadas de humor, aventura y toques de magia. Entre sus libros más destacados se encuentra El gran Houdini (2006), una biografía novelada del famoso ilusionista. También escribió El fantasma del capitán Arsenio (1979) y El látigo del pirata (1986), ambos dentro del género de aventuras.
