Silvia Moreno-Garcia es una escritora mexicana-canadiense nacida en Baja California en 1981 y radicada en Vancouver. Su obra abarca géneros como el horror gótico, la fantasía histórica y la ficción especulativa. Entre sus novelas más reconocidas se encuentran Dioses de jade y sombra (2019), Gótico (2020), La hija del doctor Moreau (2022) y Silver Nitrate (2023). También ha editado antologías como She Walks in Shadows (2015), que ganó el World Fantasy Award.

Su novela Gótico recibió el British Fantasy Award y el Locus Award en 2021, consolidándola como una voz destacada en la literatura de horror. Dioses de jade y sombra fue finalista del Nebula Award y ganadora del Sunburst Award en 2020. Además, La hija del doctor Moreau fue nominada al Hugo Award en 2023. Moreno-Garcia es reconocida por su habilidad para fusionar mitología mexicana, crítica social y atmósferas oscuras en narrativas originales y envolventes.
