También creó personajes populares como Lucky Luke (junto a Morris) y El Pequeño Nicolás (con Jean-Jacques Sempé). Albert Uderzo (Fismes, Francia, 25 de abril de 1927 – Neuilly-sur-Seine, 24 de marzo de 2020) fue un historietista y guionista francés de origen italiano, célebre en todo el mundo como co-creador de Astérix el Galo junto al guionista René Goscinny. Desde joven, Uderzo mostró un talento excepcional para el dibujo y forjó su carrera en revistas infantiles francesas, cautivando con personajes y viñetas llenas de humor e ingenio. Hijo de inmigrantes italianos, su infancia estuvo marcada por el esfuerzo y la creatividad, así como por una temprana fascinación por los héroes de Walt Disney.

En 1959, junto a Goscinny, dio vida a los irreductibles galos Astérix y Obélix en la revista Pilote, personajes que, gracias a su crítica social y referencias históricas, conquistaron a lectores de todas las edades. La serie Astérix, convertida en icono del cómic europeo, fue traducida a decenas de idiomas, vendió cientos de millones de ejemplares y se adaptó tanto al cine como a la televisión, elevando el cómic a la categoría de fenómeno cultural global.

Tras la muerte de Goscinny en 1977, Uderzo continuó la saga como autor completo hasta su retiro en 2009, consolidándose como referente indiscutible del noveno arte.
