Jacques Rancière (nacido en 1940) es un filósofo francés reconocido por sus estudios en estética, política y educación. Se dio a conocer como coautor de La lección de Althusser (1974), donde criticó las posiciones de su antiguo maestro, Louis Althusser. A lo largo de su carrera, ha desarrollado una filosofía centrada en la igualdad y la emancipación intelectual.

Entre sus obras más influyentes destacan El maestro ignorante (1987), donde explora la pedagogía emancipadora; El desacuerdo (1995), un análisis sobre la política y el lenguaje; y El espectador emancipado (2008), que cuestiona la pasividad en el arte y la política.
