With no actors, sets, costumes, or sound, what appeared onscreen was simply decided and drawn by an animator. Since early films were usually made by only one or two artists, there was little need for planning. Organization was loose. When Walt Disney started animating on shorts and advertising projects in Kansas City, Missouri, he followed that process, along with fellow artist and friend Ub Iwerks. Walt found that his strength was in story and character. He began writing outlines, describing what would appear scene by scene. Soon the text was accompanied by a sketch previsualizing the layout, giving all animators working on a film a clear vision of how their parts fit into the whole. George Lucas es un influyente director, productor y guionista estadounidense, nacido el 14 de mayo de 1944 en Modesto, California. Es mundialmente conocido por ser el creador de las franquicias Star Wars e Indiana Jones, pilares fundamentales del cine moderno.

Estudió cinematografía en la Universidad del Sur de California (USC), donde desarrolló su talento para contar historias visuales. Su primer gran éxito fue American Graffiti (1973), pero fue en 1977 cuando revolucionó el cine con Star Wars (más tarde renombrada Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope). La película combinó efectos especiales innovadores con una narrativa épica, dando inicio a una de las sagas más exitosas de todos los tiempos.

Lucas fundó Lucasfilm, una empresa clave en el desarrollo de tecnologías cinematográficas, como los efectos especiales digitales y el sonido envolvente. En 1981, junto a Steven Spielberg, creó Indiana Jones, otra serie cinematográfica icónica.
