Europa brings together four European theatres: Birmingham Repertory Theatre (UK), Dresden State Theatre (Germany), Teatr Polski Bydgoszcz (Poland) and Zagreb Youth Theatre (Croatia) - and four leading playwrights from each country - Steve Waters (UK), Lutz Hübner (Germany), Malgorzata Sikorska-Miszczuk (Poland) and Tena Stivicic (Croatia). This revelatory piece of theatre sets out to explore the possibilities of collaborative playwriting, to produce a single work that is multi-authored and multi-lingual. Drawing on first-hand accounts, including memories from the 1930s up to the present day, the playwrights have collaborated to overcome language barriers and weave their separate languages into one single dramatic entity. The resulting play engages with increased levels of debate about European identity versus national identity. This edition features both the multi-lingual and the English text, and has an introduction by the dramaturg behind the project, Caroline Jester.

Lutz Hübner (Heilbronn, 1964) es un destacado dramaturgo alemán, reconocido por sus contribuciones al teatro contemporáneo. Tras estudiar Germanística, Filosofía y Sociología en Münster, y completar una formación actoral en la Hochschule des Saarlandes für Musik und Theater, Hübner ha escrito más de 30 obras, muchas de las cuales han sido traducidas a más de una docena de idiomas.

Entre sus obras más destacadas se encuentran "Das Herz eines Boxers" (El corazón de un boxeador) y "Creeps". "Das Herz eines Boxers" recibió el Deutscher Jugendtheaterpreis, consolidando a Hübner como una figura prominente en el teatro juvenil alemán. "Creeps" es una pieza que explora las complejidades de la adolescencia y ha sido representada en diversos escenarios internacionales. Además, "Geisterfahrer" (Conductor kamikaze) y "Die Firma dankt" (La empresa agradece) fueron seleccionadas para el Mülheimer Theatertage, y "Hotel Paraiso" formó parte de la selección para el Theatertreffen en 2005.
