Inevitably, the time comes when he must get out of the building before his air cylinder is empty and he suffocates. Will he leave his partner to die in a burning building alone? If he stays any longer, he will certainly perish searching for him. The decision torments him. This could mean the end of Jack's life or at least an end to his career for abandoning a fellow fireman.
