Noam Chomsky (nacido en 1928) es un lingüista, filósofo y activista político estadounidense, considerado una de las figuras intelectuales más influyentes del siglo XX. Revolucionó la lingüística con su teoría de la gramática generativa, introducida en Estructuras sintácticas (1957), y profundizada en Aspectos de la teoría de la sintaxis (1965). Su enfoque transformó el estudio del lenguaje, conectándolo con la cognición y la mente humana.
