Raising twin cubs in the Northern Rockies requires skill, stealth, and determination. "Mama Lucy: Lanie and Deenie" reveals such a struggle. The trilogy covers one mother grizzly's determination to keep her cubs alive until they are strong enough to make it on their own. Book One, "Lanie and Deenie," was released in 2014 and received the Honorable Mention award at the 2015 North Texas Book Festival. It is the enthralling story of the cubs' first year of life which is full of wonder and adventure. Book Two, "Growing Up," continues the saga of the cubs' lives into their second year. As Mama Lucy raises her twins, the inevitable separation weighs heavily on her heart. Lanie and Deenie must be taught all the skills to survive on their own before the time for parting arrives. During this second year, the cubs encounter various dangers including an avalanche, their first real contact with man and his machines, and the ever-present threat of the roving wolf pack. Lanie and Deenie do quite a bit of "Growing Up" during their second year, as well as facing the heart wrenching truth of the parting. Mama Lucy is ever watchful for the changes in Lanie and Deenie which will prepare them all for the future. The final book of the trilogy, "The Parting," will be released in late 2016.
