John Robert Walmsley Stott (27 de abril de 1921 – 27 de julio de 2011) fue un influyente teólogo y ministro anglicano británico, reconocido como una de las figuras más destacadas del movimiento evangélico mundial del siglo XX. Su legado abarca más de 50 libros traducidos a más de 65 idiomas, entre los que destacan Basic Christianity (1958) y The Cross of Christ (1986), obras que han dejado una huella profunda en la teología cristiana contemporánea .

Stott estudió en Trinity College, Cambridge, donde obtuvo una doble licenciatura en francés y alemán, y luego se formó para el ministerio en Ridley Hall, Cambridge. Fue ordenado diácono en 1945 y sacerdote en 1946, iniciando su ministerio en la iglesia All Souls, Langham Place, en Londres, donde sirvió como rector desde 1950 hasta 1975 .

En 1974, fue uno de los principales autores del Pacto de Lausana, un documento clave en la historia del evangelismo global. Además, fundó Langham Partnership en 2002, una organización dedicada a la formación de líderes cristianos en el mundo en desarrollo .
