John Gray es un destacado filósofo, escritor y político británico. Es catedrático de pensamiento europeo en la London School of Economics. Ha trabajado en diversas universidades, entre las que destacan Yale y Oxford.
En la década de los 80 fue un importante defensor de la New Right y en los 90, del Nuevo Laborismo. Ahora Gray piensa que el espectro político dividido entre derecha e izquierda ya no es viable. Es un pesimista para con la humanidad.
Colabora regularmente con The Guardian, New Statesman, y The Times Literary Supplement.
