Graduada en Teatro y Studio Art por Smith College, alcanzó el éxito internacional con El circo de la noche (2011), galardonado con el Premio Locus y el Alex Award. Su segunda novela, Un mar sin estrellas (2019), consolidó su reputación por su estilo visual y evocador.
