It includes chapters on 'Food', Dress', 'Turkish Weddings', 'Religious Tolerance and Missionary Work', and much more, giving the reader an excellent insight into the lives of the residents of the area. This is a fantastic work for anyone interested in the history of the region and Turkish society during the nineteenth century. To compliment the republication of this work, a brand new introductory biography of the editor, Stanley Lane-Poole, has been added.
