The Tales of the Shadowmen series aimed at raising awareness of the founding heroes and villains of popular French fiction: journalists, adventurers, detectives, magicians, mad scientists, monsters, superheroes, and super-villains.

This volume offers a selection of tales featuring Fantômas, the fearsome criminal created in 1911 by Pierre Souvestre and Marcel Allain. In the seventeen short stories reprinted in this

collection, Fantômas celebrates Christmas, discovers the mysteries of the Tarot, and crosses paths with Irma Vep, Diabolik, Kriminal, Harry Dickson, and many bore... But is he still the One and Only Lord of Terror? Isn't the Parisian underworld shouting: "Fantômas is dead... Long live Fantômas!"
