The people had been oppressed by wicked kings, and worn out by the miseries which come in the train of unrighteous princes. The whole city was full of strife: the priesthood was debased: the tribunals of the law corrupt: "judgment was turned away backward, truth was fallen in the street, and equity could not enter."
