English summary: The Epistle to the Galatians is an example of conflict management. New missionaries insist on circumcision as a prerequisite to the inclusion among the people of God. Paul opposes this: Through Jesus Christ, those who belong to him are also children of Abraham and children of God and free from the law. The understanding of the Gospel as freedom from Biblical Jewish law has made history, often with anti-semitic undertones. But in the Epistle to the Galatians Paul also represents a much wider understanding of the Bible of Israel. On the basis of this, he impresses that committing to Jesus Christ means liberation for a new life. In hermeneutic reflections and a longer conclusion, this commentary starts an introductory and critical conversation with the Pauline Gospel. German description: Der Galaterbrief soll einen Konflikt bewaltigen. Neue Missionare propagieren, man musse sich beschneiden lassen, um zum Volk Gottes zu zahlen. Dem setzt Paulus entgegen: Durch Jesus Christus, Abrahams- und Gottessohn, und seine Hingabe am Kreuz sind die, die zu ihm gehoren, Kinder Abrahams und zugleich Kinder Gottes und frei vom Gesetz. Das Evangelium als Freiheit vom biblisch-judischen Gesetz hat - oft mit antijudischen Untertonen - Geschichte gemacht. Doch Paulus vertritt auch im Galaterbrief ein sehr viel weiteres Verstandnis der Bibel Israels. Auf dessen Grundlage pragt er ein: Bindung an Jesus Christus heisst Befreiung zu einem neuen Leben. In hermeneutischen Reflexionen und in einem langeren Schlussteil tritt der Kommentar in ein einstimmendes und kritisches Gesprach mit dem paulinischen Evangelium ein.
