Compared to the first edition, the second edition draws on an additional three years of surveying done over a wider area. It adds 23 new species to the 177 already described in the first edition. The selection of photographs was expanded for many species by adding or substituting new photographs, particularly focusing on photos helpful for identification. Minor updates concern names (both English and scientific) where they have changed over the last few years and changes to any measurements where new surveys provided further data.
