The story is of a young woman Rachel, living in a loveless relationship and wanting more, the story tells you how she met the partner Andy, how lonely they both where Andy fell in love with Rachel but Rachel never loved him, how Andy had a family and with his ex-wife and how if affected their relation, how she decides to leave Andy and because of her guilt of never loving him she sets him up with a business he always wanted, willing to walk away from everything, it tells you how she meets the Nick an old lover she never got over, the affair started but she fell in love with him head over heels in love with him, the mixed emotions of when Andy and herself finally split up, how she wonders if she has don't he wright thing by leaving Andy and along the way she had even set him up with another woman in his life, how she had interviewed lady's for the business that where Andy's type and how she pushed him away.Rachel was totally in love with Nick and she started to meet him on her lunch breaks having sex in the back of a van and making love in a flat Nick was doing up, Nick had his own business doing p properties so being his own boss he could meet up with Rachel anywhere and anytime, Rachel only shared the deep secret she had with her boss who over the years had become her best friend, eventually moving in with Nick after months of fouling about, how Rachel was always told she couldn't have children and falls pregnant with Nicks child, then Nick falling ill, how Nick keeps the illness from Rachel at first, how Nick proposes to Rachel and they fly out to America to get married. And how after the marriage they cope not just with the pregnancy but Nicks illness which they didn't know would eventually take his life and leave Rachel all alone again.
