So focus is now on screening of a few edible medicinal plants, reported to have antimicrobial activities and other medicinal importance namely, garlic, onion, ginger,mango ginger, turmeric, clove, cardamom, bay leaf, cinnamon etc. for their spermicidal function and selection of most active plant on the basis of mammalian sperm inactivation so that partial purification and characterization of active principle may lead to open a new vista towards herbal contraception.
