Reseña del libro "My Father's Daughter: A Story of Survival, Life, and Lynch Syndrome Hereditary Cancers (2019 Revised Edition) (en Inglés)"

As a child, Lindy Bruzzone knew how she might once day die. It would be from cancer as what occurred with everyone in her family, who came before her. Bruzzone tells the generational story of a family coming to America in the 1600s, through today. Defying the odds of fate while pioneering a new country, the stories Lindy's ancestors leave behind inspire the following generations to endure life's challenges in facing hardship and survival. Taking the reader into the past, then leading into the story of Lindy's life and how she learns to survive despite difficult circumstances with her own family, she details the challenges faced in living in a family affected by an unknown hereditary cancer syndrome - sharing the fears and uncertainty common to those affected by Lynch syndrome hereditary cancers, she relays how family members handled it differently, from the era of the eugenics movement in the 1900s and its mission of the mass sterilization of individuals considered "inferior" in an attempt to develop a "better breed of people, to today. Telling the stories of those from the past who died from hereditary cancers and what her generation and those affected by it are doing to survive today, Bruzzone shares the survival skills she learne when she worked in the criminal justice field. There she found more ways to live than to die as she flirts with danger and defies mortality. Finally, Lindy recounts the challenges of her own battles with later-staged cancer. Following, she embarks upon a genetic journey and learns to save her family and herself from hereditary cancer. Providing inspiration and serving as a practical guide of how one family confronts difficult challenges in life, My Father's Daughter shares what she and her family do to live with Lynch syndrome, from eating an anti-cancer diet to preparing for cancer screenings to developing their medical teams and living an anti-cancer lifestyle. Lindy Bruzzone is a retired peace officer, an investigator, and an author. In 2007, the diagnosis of a late staged, Lynch syndrome hereditary cancer changed her life, prompting her and her husband Steve to found Lynch Syndrome International, a global, nonprofit organization. After volunteering her as the CEO and Executive Director of the organization for five years, that commitment ended on July 1, 2014, when she handed the reins to others to further its development. Today, she and Steve spend their time living in the Southern Nevada desert and the New Mexico Sangre de Cristo Mountains with their Australian shepherd, Gus and their Siamese cat, Arya.
