Follow the amazing evolution from World War 2, when Naval Combat Demolition Units, Underwater Demolition Teams and Scouts and Raiders helped change the course of the war. All of these units undertook some daring missions during World War 2 and proved instrumental in the D-day and the landings at Okinawa before final victory in the Pacific. In the Korean War the UDT cleared mines and scouted landing sites ahead of the main American forces. The skills they learnt and the development of training laid the foundations for the inception of the U.S. Navy SEALs in 1962 at the request of President John F Kennedy.SEALs took part in early covert operations in Cuba before finding themselves spending their first decade of operational service in the jungles of Vietnam. After a reduction in size post-Vietnam in the 1970s. Navy SEALs found themselves heavily involved in the invasion of Grenada in 1983. From here changes to the way not only SEALs but other special forces were utilized see them turn into the modern force of around 2,700 active SEALs today. Post 9/11 has seen the SEALS used almost non-stop in the Global War on Terror adding a further amazing chapter to this world renowned unit. With SEAL Team Six a clandestine unit tasked with counterterroisim, hostage rescue and counterinsurgency.
